Rosette Nebula - C49

The Rosette Nebula is just to the East of Orion, but is extremely difficult to see visually. The open cluster of stars in the centre (Caldwell 50) is readily visible and is used to check that the telescope with camera are pointing in the correct place.

This image is made from a hydrogen alpha image taken last year used as luminance and a DSLR image taken on 9 January 2013 for the colour information.
