The Orion Nebula -
The Great Orion Nebula is in the middle of the “sword” of Orion below the three belt stars. To the naked eye it appears as a fuzzy star but can be seen as nebulosity through binoculars. It is around 1500 light years distant and is the birth place of stars.
This image was taken on the night of 10/11 December 2012 through a Megrez 90 telescope with a Canon 40D modified DSLR. It consists of 48 x 5 minute sub exposures (=4 hours) and 48 x 30 second (=24 minutes) exposures. The subs were combined using Deep Sky Stacker and processed in Photoshop CS2
